It was great to see so many CATS jersey's racing at this event. The day started with very technical time trials at Logan Village on a VERY cold morning. Some awesome results which saw Josh Watson in second place by 14 seconds only in the U17 men.
Once the day had warmed up, the road races started after lunch. Again, CATS riders featured heavily in the races with Riley Maule & Josh Watson taking out 1st & third respectively in the U17 race. This left Josh Watson leading the GC overnight.
On Sunday, everybody regrouped at the bottom of the Mt Gravatt hill climb. Riders went off in waves of 5-6 riders and it was a short hard 1.8km climb to the top. Great job by Lachlan Fearon in the hill climb to finish 7th and only 23 seconds off the winner!!
The riders then moved onto the final stage criteriums held at the Murrarie Reserve in Wynnum Road.
With the U17 general classication still very much up for grabs, this race was always going to be fast & furious. Congratulations to Riley Maule who won the criterium and then the overall GC. Josh Watson also finished 3rd overall.
Great work Junior CATS!!
