Road to Success for Emily Roper

On the 28th March, Gold Coast Cycling Club member, Emily Roper was announced as the youngest rider of the 2013 JAYCO-AIS Women’s Endurance Squad by Cycling Australia (CA) and the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS).

CA reports that "the squad functions in a dual role, as a development program in the pathway for the Orica-AIS professional women's cycling team and also for road preparation of selected national track athletes, and has now been finalised following a series of assessment competitions and camps in both road and track."

After competing in the first few Subaru 2013 National Road Series, Emily is due to travel to Europe this month to contest a series of races in Omloops and Kermesses in The Netherlands and Belgium.

Their first major UCI race will be the Tour de Feminin in the Czech Republic in early July, with other events to include the Thuringen Rundfarht, Route de France, Trophee D'Or, Tour de L. Ardeche and Chrono Champenois.

We wish Emily every success and look forward to reporting her progress.
